What are semi-permanent brows?

DISCLAIMER: Each client's skin responds differently to these treatments. This information acts as a guideline only.

All techniques; microblading, powder brow, and precision brows are forms of Semi-permanent brow tattooing creating a soft, natural, totally custom and tailored look to each individual. You will need to come back for a touch up no sooner than 8 weeks after your first appointment. Final results can be determined only after both sessions are completed and healed. The length of time before needing another touch up varies by person. It will depend on how your skin heals, sun exposure, lifestyle, skin type, and if you follow all aftercare properly. Healed results will vary with each individual client, and using an eyebrow product like pencil or powder may still be needed or desired depending on the individual and how they heal, also depending on their personal preference. We have NO control over what occurs during the healing process. Absolutely NO guarantee will be made and additional sessions (charged accordingly) may be required to obtain optimal results. Additional charges will apply.

Microblading Misconceptions & Education

Microblading was amazing and new a few years ago. Most of us very educated and very experienced artists will educate you on why that is something we are moving away from, and what WAY better options are available now!

Making sure you choose your artist wisely is SO important. Someone who will provide quality work now, but that will also age well over time. Long term results.

It’s a huge commitment and investment. Make sure it’s worth it!

You want to choose someone who will tailor the service for you and your needs, explain the why, and who has lots of pictures. Especially close up. The details matter most! The best artists are going to have a wait and a higher price point, and there’s a reason. The wait and the cost are a reflection of the quality of work. Always worth it!

Shading and powder techniques are currently the BEST, most innovative, perfected, gentle, non-invasive techniques in the permanent makeup industry. They are completely customizable and tailored to each individual. You want soft, natural? Done!

You want bold, dramatic? Done!

In between? Done!

The common misconception about Microblading being “better” or “more natural” has been proven wrong over time.

As a licensed and experienced artist, Veronica will always strive to be the best and stay on top of the latest and greatest techniques. It’s SO important in our ever growing and changing industry.

We have learned that very little people are actually considered “ideal” candidates for traditional Microblading. Even if you see a photo of gorgeous, fresh, crisp, fine hair-like strokes.. you can bet they will never stay that way.

Over time the lines will expand and blur and become less realistic looking. Microblading has been found to cause an excess of scar tissue build up in the skin because of the extremely invasive technique (which is making cuts continuously over and over into the skin, then pushing pigment in). It’s very invasive and traumatizing to the skin. It fades much faster than anything done with a machine (like powder). Which means it requires much more frequent touch ups, which builds more scar tissue. The issue with that is that eventually you will no longer be able to even implant pigment into the skin anymore through the scar tissue, defeating the entire purpose of having them done right?

So, any form of powder is going to look the best, heal the best, and age the best over time. It’s much less invasive (when done properly). More gentle, almost painless. And ideal for ALL skin types including mature, thin, or extremely oily.

Microblading can benefit a variety of people! It's perfect for those who want to fully reconstruct, define, cover gaps or fill in over-plucked brows, as well as those who want beautiful, realistic, customized brows even with no makeup on!

Microblading is NOT ideal for oily skin types or some mature skin types.

(please look into Precision Brow, Powder, or Ombré Powder Brow techniques if this applies to you)

How do I know if it will fit my face?

During the initial thorough consultation, which is done at the start of every single appointment, your licensed permanent makeup artist will map and measure your face and brows.

She will then draw on the desired outline of your new brows in pencil based on the look you both decide on. This will help guarantee the shape will fit and frame your face, as well as be symmetrical.

What does "semi - permanent" mean?

"Semi-permanent" means the tattoo is not planted as deep into the dermis as a typical tattoo, traditional tattoo. You can either maintain your new brows over time with annual touch-ups to refresh them, have them altered, or let them fade over time.

Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant or nursing?

We do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or nursing women.

How many sessions do I need?

For most clients, a minimum of two sessions are usually needed, no sooner than 8 weeks apart. With most procedures, the color looks lighter after the first week or 2. Some clients prefer this, while others prefer a bolder look. At the second session,

we will assess the color retention and make adjustments as needed. Everyone heals differently and at different rates.

If your semi-permanent eyebrows did not heal properly after the first session, do not worry! We can always make changes and adjustments at the next appointment! It is a 2-step process for a reason, and the second session is the "perfecting" session.

We can always go darker, add more density, change or alter the shape, size, color, etc. at your next appointment.

How long does it last?

The length of time before needing another refresh touch-up varies by person and depends on how your skin heals, your lifestyle, skin type, and how your skin accepts the ink and whether aftercare instructions were properly followed. The average person undergoes annual touch-ups (approximately once per year). The average time before needing a refresh touch-up is longer for Powder/Ombré Brow techniques (approximately 1-3 years).

Does it hurt?

Most clients agree that this service causes very minor discomfort!

A high-grade topical anesthetic is applied to the skin before the procedure and then another is applied again once the process has begun to work even deeper into the skin. Most clients will describe the pain level at a 1-3 (on a scale of 1-10) at the start of the session, and then a 0-1 once the second topical anesthetic has been applied.

What should I do before my eyebrow procedure?

If you have an ideal shape, color, or eyebrow look in mind, bring a few reference photos with you to your appointment. You may also come to your appointment with your eyebrows filled in as you normally would, if you’d like a similar look, so we can take into consideration the look you prefer. If you regularly get your eyebrows waxed or tinted, please do so at least 5 days before your appointment. If there are any stray hairs that fall outside of our final shape, we will remove them and clean them up.

If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 14 days after the procedure to allow proper time to heal before. We require our clients to avoid any blood thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen.

Here are a few things to know in order to prepare

•If you are currently or regularly using any retinol, retin-a, or any other skin lightening products- you must stop using at least 2 weeks before tour procedure (4 weeks for prescription strength)

•Wait at least 1 year after stopping accutane before any PMU procedure

•Please let us know if you are currently on blood thinners, and we can discuss more in depth the type, amount, reason, and then will likely require your physician provide a signed consent that states:

A) it’s is safe for you to continue taking AND get a PMU procedure done

B) it is safe for you to stop taking for X amount of time in order to safely get procedures done

NO tanning, no sunburns on the target area and surrounding areas (we will need to reschedule until when you’ve healed). As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the pigment with it.

If you are type 1 diabetic, please let us know in advance.

NO drinking alcohol, or taking anything that will thin the blood (like pain meds) for at least 24 hours before procedure

Please let us know of any existing medical conditions, or medications is you think they may contradict PMU procedures

We will be taking before & after photos.

You may come in the day of with makeup on if you prefer, we will be cleansing the entire area before and during procedure. You may bring in your makeup/foundation to touch up if you’d like for the after photos! Please feel free to bring pictures or your eyebrow products in for reference if you wish!

It is imperative to follow aftercare properly after you have PMU done in order to ensure proper healing, and ideal outcome. So please plan ahead for that (like no major beach vacations or under water swimming activities planned for 10+ days after).

What is long term care like?

A good sunscreen should be applied daily AFTER fully healing and is required to help keep color true. As with any tattoo, sun exposure will make the color soften or fade faster.

Fading speed depends on your skintype, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, and if any chemical peels, or skin lightening procedure or treatments were done after your procedure.

If you are planning a chemical peel, laser treatment or other medical procedure, please inform the technician that you have had a cosmetic tattoo. Careful application must be taken to avoid affecting the tattooed area.

DISCLAIMER: Each client’s skin responds differently to these treatments. This information acts as a guideline only.

Precision Brow

Precision Brow or (aka Machine Hair Stroke Brow), is a technique using a machine to create hair-like strokes similar to microblading, but the results will last twice as long before needing refresh touch ups as traditional microblading technique. This method of semi-permanent eyebrow tattooing is similar to traditional microblading, in the sense that it is completely customizable to each individual and will heal to look more natural and blended like hair.

Some of the major differences, and improvements that vary from microblading are:

-Precision Brow offers a longer term result, individuals can go much longer (usually about twice as long) before needing refresh touch ups

-Precision Brow heals to a more accurate color which means less dramatic color lightening and color fading

during healing than traditional microblading

-Precision Brow (or any hair stoke technique) is not ideal for oily, or mature skin types.

Powder Brow

Powder Brow is a semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo technique that is also created using a machine. It is a form of tattoo shading, that will heal to a soft, blended, "powdery" look. This is a great option for all skin types, including oily or mature skin. Ombré Powder Brow is using this same technique, but creating a light to dark blended brow look.

Powder shading techniques are the best, most innovative, custom techniques currently available in the permanent cosmetic world!

Both of these new eyebrow services can be combined together, to create a ‘Combo Brow’ where we can create Precision Brow machine hair strokes at the front/start of the brow, and then blend into the Powder Brow through the middle, arch, and tail of the brow. This would be an ideal option for those who want a bit more defined and enhanced brow shape, but still a little softer or more natural look overall too. It’s the best of both worlds!

I will talk you through your aftercare in detail after your treatment, but for now, please understand that it takes about 2 weeks for your new brows to heal on the surface (6-8 weeks for you to be fully healed and ready for the second session).

(Different techniques will require slightly different aftercare steps)

You will gently clean your tattooed area at least twice daily with just water after your procedure and then gently pat dry. You will then apply a thin layer of aquaphor ointment over treated area and you will apply again before any showers or before washing face. Keep out of the sun during the healing process. DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring and pigment loss. Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, pool (chlorine is irritating), sauna, steam room, extremely hot showers and/or hot baths with closed door for at least 2 weeks. Avoid heavy physical activity like working out, and any other activity that may cause excessive sweating for AT LEAST 10 days. Avoid applying ANY makeup or skincare products directly on the treated area for at least 14 days. Avoid getting botox around the brow area for at least 2 weeks after.  Avoid facials, chemical peels or treatments, or microdermabrasion for at least 4 weeks after procedure. (After 14 days, consider using sunblock on the area to prevent pigment lightening from sun exposure when in the sun. (At least SPF 30 or higher))

**Exposure to the sun over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment. Once completely healed, you may apply sunscreen on the treated area. Wear large sunglasses and a hat for further protection. Rinse and dry the area thoroughly when in contact with chlorine. Glycolic acid, microdermabrasion, and chemical face peel products must be kept away from the tattooed area as continued use could lighten the pigment. Anti-aging products, and anti-acne products can also cause skin lightening, which can also cause fading and discoloration of the pigment over time when used directly in the brow area as well.

There are no implied or written guarantees if you do not take care of your semi-permanent or permanent tattoo.
